AT SCUDIT
The Little Staircase
When you arrive at Via La Spezia 34, walk into the courtyard and, on your right, you will immediately see a small staircase with a sign that says "Scudit".
Come upstairs and, on the first floor... you'll find us.
Alessia
When you arrive, the first person you are likely to meet is Alessia, whom you already know from the many emails you have exchanged before coming to Rome.
Alessia will tell you everything you need to know and, before you even think of asking, she will give you the Wi-Fi password.
Air Conditioning
Yes, we do have air conditioning.
Some students think it is unhealthy, others dislike it for environmental reasons, and some simply find it annoying.
If you prefer a hand fan, that's perfectly fine with us. But at least in August, we strongly recommend using AC.
The Nasone
One of the things we are particularly proud of is the nasone on our terrace, where you can refill your water bottle.
Please, however, do not ask us, as almost everyone does,
"Where did you steal it?"
We didn't steal it. We simply bought it.
Besides, stealing one from the street would not be easy. It is so heavy that moving it would require at least three or four people.
The Coffee Machine
Yes, we have a coffee machine and cold drinks too.
If you are feeling lazy and don't feel like going to the bar during the break, forty cents will solve the problem without your having to step outside.
The Bar and the Market
If you leave the courtyard on the Via Orvieto side, you will find not only a bar where you can grab a coffee during the break, but also an excellent open-air market.
A mortadella sandwich costs only a couple of euros and, if you are vegetarian, just cross the street and you will find a very decent pizza al taglio shop.
Forma urbis
Normally, we use Google Maps too.
But the map hanging on our wall is much more satisfying.
Perhaps because it is fascinating to see how little Rome has changed in two thousand years.
Vinyl Records
When our youngest students see our collection of vinyl records, they are sometimes surprised to discover that those are not connected to their smartphone.
Even so, the wall covered with records from the 1960s still has its charm.
The Original Pasolini Poster
We have plenty of film posters at school.
But this huge poster for Pier Paolo Pasolini's Il Vangelo secondo Matteo (The Gospel According to St. Matthew) is an original from 1964.
Either at the Louvre or at Scudit!
The Poster of Italian Idioms
This definitely belongs one of Scudit's treasures.
Ever since Roberto created it, he has become convinced that he is the reincarnation of Michelangelo.
If we don't include it on this page, he might leave and start working for another school.
A Guitar
Of course there is always a guitar available at school.
After all, what would be the point of running an Italian language school without a guitar?
